eyeball 7

I wish I knew this artist’s real name so I didn’t have to refer to her  by her Flickr moniker…but this will have to do for now. The paintings are a little bit too Asian-American (is that a genre?) for my taste…and I feel like maybe I can make this claim because I am a fair representation, but the colors are definitely eye-catching. And I like how auto-biographical the paintings feel.

  • I really adore the first painting. I keep coming back to look at it. I agree with everything you have to say about it appearing “Asian-American” by the way, but I don’t think its a bad thing at all. I really appreciate the attention to detail. God, look at that hair!

The last painting is my fave. I like how it’s totally flat background but the figures still have dimension.

I don’t see how it’s too “asian-american” or how that would be an issue/problem. Am I missing something besides the figures appearing to be asian-american?

either way, i really love the work. It’s interesting to see a flat bright background with a complex composition in the foreground. I like that.
