Steve Kim

Am I crazy or are  Steve Kim’s ghostly figurative paintings look like a mix between Egon Schiele, and Richard Diebenkorn’s  paintings?

Steve’s painting process is interesting in that he often photographs the paintings while in progress to document what could have been or as a way of holding himself accountable of his decisions. I think most artists wish that they documented their work as they made paintings.

I don’t neccessarily need photos of my works but often when i’m working on a body of paintings I like to have the earlier works in the studio so I can use them as reference material for the newer pieces.
