Design studio POGO, based in Argentina and makes beautifully slick commercial work, was commissioned by MTV to re-create the identity of the MTV 16 and Pregnant (don’t think I need to explain what this show’s about…) in collaboration with MTV World Design Studio Buenos Aires. I’m not certain how I feel about the new image for this show, it’s a mixture of fear, disgust, and hilarity. And being generally torn about the direction of my moral compass. I don’t know, what do you guys think?
Lullatone is probably the most preciously adorable art/music/Cauc-asian couple to have graced the Flickr & WWW world. Their music videos will make you want to smother yourself in fluffy clouds and be rocked into eternal slumber. No but honestly…they’re great.
Macroy Smith is a 23 year old graduate from Brighton University specializing in design, illustration and screen print (and maybe the use of blue and pink inks in his color palette?). He founded People of Print, a free online library of contemporary printmakers.
Beautifully shot videos in conjunction somehow for YEASAYER’s new Ambling Alp single. You use your mouse to pan around this camera that in the first video is propped up by all the members in unison in some sort of boxed with mirrors all around. The second video is more voyeuristic. You can move the camera around however you like- you don’t always have to be looking at what they want you to see (the band running around in a desert) so it has this first person exploration/Myst/Second Life feeling. Sort of reminds me of this Flash video Black Mother Super Rainbow did.
Here is Chicken Billy’s recipe to his bright vector illustraions: take Hanna Barbera, Hulk Hogan, History Channel, James Brown, Fort Worth Zoo, B.B. King, Hank Williams III, Jesus Christ, a pair of cowboy boots and a pair of jeans, some Mexican beer, your choice, and put them on a surface only using flat vector shapes. Well then… there you have it. Taste like Chicken!
After having spent the last five years as an art director, graphic designer and illustrator at the creative collective Acne (multimedia mogul that also owns the denim brand), Daniel Carlsten recently launched his own business. His main interest and expertise lie in visual identities and graphic design of printed matter such as books, catalogues, stationaries, posters, invitations and packaging. David’s marriage of product and photography based design is sleek and beautiful.
Examples from several Greenpeace-commissioned ads that have just been revealed in and around Copenhagen airport in the run up to the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) that takes place in the city next week. These ads feature a doctored image of a current world leader looking ten or so years older lamenting for their current inaction. Ad writer Toby Cotton of new agency Arc Communications (seemingly without a real website yet?) says about his choice of design that “the brief from Greenpeace International was simple, to put pressure on world leaders to create a fair and binding agreement at Copenhagen.” World leaders and big players in the Conference from around the world including Nicolas Sarkozy (France), Gordon Brown, (UK), Stephen Harper (Canada) and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Brazil) join President Obama in the ranks.
