New York based artist Nick van Woert’s sculptures are great- I love the Potato Head!
Awesome paper sculptures from Dutch artist Karen Sargsyan.
Super Nova Warehouse is featuring works by artists Yami Duarte and Jason Redwood in a show titled Acrux (an optical double star whose certain mass and brightness is speculated to cause a supernova 321 lightyears from our solar system- tight). The opening is this Saturday from 6-10PM in Pasadena. So go check out their show and then hop on over to our B/D Book 2 Release Party!
British sculptor Mark Coreth was sponsored by the WWF to create awareness on the subject of human impact on climate. The hunting polar bear has been standing standing proud in the Trafalgar Square’s Northern Terrace in London since last Friday the 11th. He will melt over the next 10 days, leaving a bronze skeleton, a pool of water and a powerful environmental message. If you’re in the area, please give Mr. Bear a sympathetic pet on the head. If you’re not in the area, you can watch his slow watery demise on a live feed (not completely sure if this works or not since everytime I’ve tried I’ve encountered technical difficulties.) Check out some not real-time vids of the sculptor and Mr. Bear’s daddy carving him out in the square after the jump.
Fanny Bostrom is a Swedish painter and illustrator currently working and residing in New York. I love her literature-appreciating kittens and the rough strokes she uses to paint.

Ramon Coronado is an independent, cross-media visual designer based out of Los Angeles. I saw his work at the Art Center Undergraduate Graduation show and noticed it immediately due to Ramon’s clean and professional presentation. I really liked his Mercado Negro project (after the jump), a 2 week on-taking that deals with reclaiming an ordinary, everyday object and transforming it into a whole new object.
